Since his initial induction in 2007, Lionel Messi has shattered records by consecutively making the FIFPRO Team of the Year for 17 years. However, his streak came to an end the year prior when he was omitted from the prestigious lineup. In the recent years, Messi has once more been named among the candidates for the distinguished team.
