The FIFPRO Team of the Year, recognized by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Players' Union, honours the finest male and female footballers as chosen by their peers. Initially known as the FIFPRO World 11, this accolade was established in 2005 to celebrate the exceptional footballers as voted upon by their fellow players. In 2009, a partnership was forged between FIFPRO and FIFA, leading to the renaming of the award to the "FIFA FIFPRO World 11," commonly referred to as the FIFA Team of the Year, while maintaining its original structure. Effective from 2024, FIFPRO will manage the award autonomously and revert to its original title: the FIFPRO World 11.
The FIFPRO Team of the Year is a distinguished accolade, chosen exclusively by professional footballers from around the globe, marking the sole global honor in football that is player-selected. The criteria for selecting the players are based on their performances between August 4, 2025, and July 19, 2026, with a requirement that they have participated in at least 30 official matches during this period.
The final lineup of 11 players will consist of 1 goalkeeper, 3 defenders, 3 midfielders, 3 forwards, with the remaining position filled by the non-goalkeeper player who receives the highest number of votes.
